Ayra Starr, born in Cotonou, Benin, started working as a model at 16 with Quove Model Management before deciding to focus on music. She initially shared an original song on her page in December 2019 after recreating several songs by well-known musicians on Instagram. She was noticed by music industry boss Don Jazzy because of this, and Mavin Records signed her.

Mavin Records, commonly known as the Supreme Mavin Dynasty, is a Nigerian music corporate record label established on May 8, 2012, by musician and record producer Don Jazzy. Following the demise of Mo’ Hits Records, a record company run by the producer above and D’banj, the label was established.

Musicians including Korede Bello, Dr. SID, D’Prince, Di’Ja, Johnny Drille, Ladipoe, DNA Twins, Rema, Crayon, Ayra Starr, Magixx, Boy Spyce, and Bayanni are signed to the label.
